Cooking up a storm with Soul Kitchen

Sunday 3rd April 2011 was a special day for us as we got to work together with the wonderful team from Soul Kitchen, Australia. This multi-talented couple was such a blessing to us at New Manna Ministries during the week that they were here, as we could draw from their years of experience.

The highlight of the week was our trip to the jungle together. Cooking for the villagers was done at 3 am at the humble kitchen of New Manna. We left Penang at 6 am and only got back at 7 pm. It was an exciting day for the villagers as this wonderful couple not only left their comfort zones, but blended in so well, that we didn't see any of the usual shyness and awkward glances when visitors appear.

New Manna Ministries is honoured to have been giving this privilege to learn hands-on from these experts. If you and your organisation has a desire to reach the community around you, but are not sure how best to do it, then you could use what Soul Kitchen has to offer. It will be one of the best decisions you make for your future.

M.A.D in Balik Pulau...

M.A.D (Making A Difference) was the theme for the recently ended (January 14-16, 2011) annual camp of the CUS (Catholic Undergraduates Society) of the USM.

New Manna Ministries was so blessed to have been able to be a part of this, and see the Lord working mightily among the young people who took time off from their busy schedules to seek the Lord on how they could make a difference. We may have had a plan of how the programme should be, but the Lord had His own plans as He knows the needs of His children best.

Saturday night was a night we will remember for a long time, with everyone having had an experience with Jesus - some saw visions, some heard angels and harps being played (we had no musical instruments at all), and many more experiences that only the Lord can provide. There were even testimonies of physical & emotional healings.

We are reminded of the first disciples who were able to respond to their call when Jesus said "Come follow me". The only reason they could respond was because they had met Jesus. In the same way, these young people had an encounter with Jesus - a real, life-changing experience. It is our prayer at New Manna Ministries that with His grace upon them, these students will now have the courage to respond to their call to Make A Difference in their respective areas.
Want to Make A Difference? Try Jesus!

The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field". (Luke 10:2)

To God Be The Glory!

The famous song "To God be the Glory, great things He has done..." is more than a song to us at NMM. Tonight we got to witness first hand the awesome power and faithfulness of the Most High God.

This morning (29th December 2010), we were informed of a friend (from a Hindu family but accepted Christ a few months ago) who was very sick. He was in severe pain (chest area) and had undergone numerous tests and specialist consultations, but was discharged from the hospital after two days because the doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong - all tests were clear but even the strongest pain-killers couldn't calm him down. He could not sit up or even lie on his side without pain, and was unable to eat because he couldn't sit up long enough to even have a meal.

We went over at 8.30 pm and had a little chat with him, sharing with him some stories from the Bible of how Jesus healed those who believed. We also shared some of our own experiences of how our friends were healed through faith in Jesus. Only after sharing the Word did we start to pray for a few minutes and the Lord took over. Our friend was not only able to turn to his side, he sat up and started twisting his body in all directions without any pain or stiffness - praise the Lord, his non-believing wife was present to witness all this and she too ended up saying "Thank you, Jesus"!

Friends, if you are in need of a miracle, remember "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever" (Hebrews 13:8).

If He could heal 2000 years ago, He can heal you too as He did to our friend. To God be all Glory, Honour and Praise!

Christmas 2010

Christmas 2010 was our first "official" Christmas @ NMM, and it's been special in more ways than one.

On the 24th December, we were blessed with an opportunity to bring lunch and the joy of Christmas to seniors in a nursing home. Christmas Day was spent with our respective families, and we got together again on the 26th to bring some Christmas cheer to another nursing home. On the 27th, NMM was blessed with an opportunity to bring some cheer to the street people who live on the sidewalks of inner Georgetown.

It was definitely a Christmas with a difference, and we feel so blessed to have been able to experience first hand the love and faithfulness of the Father towards His children. We are so proud to be able to claim that we serve a Great and Mighty God.
